Previously, he was Director of the Sir Joseph Swan Centre for Energy Research and Chair of Marine Engineering at Newcastle University, with 30 years experience in the design, control and optimisation of transport and energy systems
Dr Janie Ling Chin is an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Engineering at Durham University. She has managed and carried out transport/energy research across multiple EPSRC-funded networks.
Professor Al Cairns is the Director of the Powertrain Research Centre at University of Nottingham and has over 23 years’ experience in light and heavy-duty engines, decarbonised fuels and electric hybrid propulsion systems.

Dr Wu is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering and an EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council) Fellow. Dawei is also a part of the Vehicle Technology Research Centre. Dawei has published over 50 peer reviewed papers and book chapters in the field of Mechanical and Marine Engineering, mainly on power generation systems, decarbonisation, cryogenic energy applications, novel linear engine generators and zero carbon propulsions. He has received major grants from EPSRC, British Council, and European Commission. His main areas of teaching are modules on thermodynamics, automation control engineering, marine engineering, and mechanical engineering design.
Professor Liu is a Professor of Marine Hydrodynamics and Director of the Marine Propulsion Laboratory, Marine, Offshore and Subsea Technology at the School of Engineering at Newcastle University. His research areas of expertise and interests include applied aero- and hydrodynamics for rotary wings and oscillating foils for marine propulsion and renewable energy; research and development of innovative technologies for practical engineering problem solving and design; and numerical tooling, high performance computing (parallel and cloud) and experimental apparatus development on performance evaluation, design and optimization of rotors, propulsors and thrusters.

Her work contributes to our understanding of how to best use low-carbon technologies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions linked to climate change. Professor Irvine FRSE, FRSC has made unique and world-leading contributions to the science of energy materials, especially fuel cell and energy conversion technologies. This research has ranged from detailed fundamental to strategic and applied science and has had major impact across academia, industry and government. Irvine’s science is highly interdisciplinary extending from chemistry and materials through physics, bioenergy, geoscience, engineering, economics and policy.
