Applications are invited for the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub's Wave 2 Flexible Funding Call

Through a total of 4 waves of Responsive Research calls, the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub (UK-MaRes Hub) aims to fund up to 30 world-leading responsive research projects. Funding for approximately 7 projects is available under Wave 2.

The full economic cost (fEC) of each successful project (excluding any project partner contributions) can be up to £50,000, of which the UK-MaRes Hub will fund 80% fEC (as is standard for EPSRC funded calls). In addition to the funding requested from the Hub,as a requirement for this call, we also require equivalent match funding to be leveraged from your project partners on a 1:1 basis.

Proposals are invited to address 5 priority research areas:

1. Real-time vessel data communication
2. Risk and uncertainty regarding marine regulations and policy implications
3. Novel energy-saving devices to improve vessel efficiency
4. Novel cost-effective nuclear propulsion systems
5. Autonomy for vessel efficiency

Clean Maritime Research Hub - Historic calls for flexible funding (now closed)

Applications are invited for the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub's Wave 1 Flexible Funding Call

Through a total of 4 waves of Responsive Research calls, the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub (UK-MaRes Hub) aims to fund up to 30 world-leading responsive research projects. Funding for approximately 10 projects is available under Wave 1.

Successful projects will have a total value of approximately £100,000 – with £50,000 provided by the UK-MaRes Hub (at 100% fEC but funded at 80%fEC), along with equivalent 1:1 match funding (in-kind and/or cash contributions) from Project Partners.

Proposals are invited to address 7 priority research areas:

1. Real-time vessel data communication
2. Novel energy solutions for ports
3. Ammonia and liquid bunkering/debunkering
4. Risk and uncertainty regarding marine regulations and policy implications
5. Modal shift: utilising coastal shipping to move freight to create marine freight highways
6. Novel energy-saving devices to improve vessel efficiency
7. Novel cost-effective nuclear propulsion systems

Call 1: Economics of Hydrogen for Transport

Funding is available for 1 project worth £50,000 (at 100% fEC), funded at 80% fEC.

Expressions of Interest are now invited to this Open Call focusing on a range of topics relevant to Network-H2.

Funding is available for up to 6 projects worth £50,000 each (at 100% fEC), funded at 80% fEC.

Closing date for Expressions of Interest: 11th June 2021.

Funding is available for 1 project worth £50,000 (at 100% fEC), funded at 80% fEC.

Network-H+C: Historic calls for flexible research funding (now closed)

Call 1: Decarbonisation of Heating and Cooling Open Call

Expressions of Interest are now invited to this call focusing on two priority areas within the decarbonisation of heating and cooling research themes.

Funding is available for 2-3 project worth £100,000 (at 100% fEC), funded at 80% fEC.

Deadline for applications: 27th July 2021 at 17:00 (UK time).

Call 2: Decarbonisation of Heating and Cooling - Sandpit Event

Expressions of Interest are now invited from researchers keen on forming new collaborations around the topic of the Decarbonisation of Heating and Cooling.  

The Network is adopting a supportive, flexible approach to identifying new partnerships and project ideas via an initial registration process and a sandpit event to be held at The Met Hotel, Leeds on 1st November 2022.

Funding is available for 4-7 project worth £50,000 (at 100% fEC), funded at 80% fEC.

Deadline for registration: 23rd September 2022 at 16:00 (GMT).

Call 3: Decarbonisation of Heating and Cooling - Sandpit Event

The final call for EPSRC Network+ Heating and Cooling Flexible Funding will provide up to £50,000 (at 80%fEC) for 2 projects. 

£80,000 to be awarded to successful project ideas pitched at a Funding sandpit in Durham on 15/16th August .
